I am a licensed Marriage and family therapist and have been working with couples, individuals and the whole family since 2000. I was born in Iran and moved to the United States in 1979 at the age of 5 years old. The Iranian community is a very tight knit community that pays a great deal of attention to the importance of family connection where as the American culture strives for independence from their family of origin. Growing up I found these values to be in conflict with one another which led my interest in family therapy. Through my education both academic and personal, I realized that our cultural background has a great deal to do with how we understand and cope with our world.
I work to build a relationship with each individual in the room by listening to what each person hopes to get out of coming to therapy. I believe that my role as a psychotherapist is to provide awareness into patterns in your life that no longer work for you and be your advocate through the changes you chose to make in your life.
As well as specializing in Bi-cultural issues I also work with issues regarding:
- Premarital and Newly Married Couples Therapy
- Anxiety & Depression
- Dating Issues
- Self Esteem Issues
